fileflag = FileSystemObjectName.FileExists(filespec)

 Or in JScript. Imply

fileflag = FileSystemObjectName.FileExists(filespec)

fileflag

The parameter "fileflag" is the name assigned to the Boolean value returned by the method using the FileSystemObjectName.FileExists Method.

FileSystemObjectName

The parameter "FileSystemObjectName" is used to specify the name of the instance of the FileSystemObject Object related to.

filespec

The parameter "filespec" is used to specify the file to be checked exist or not. The value of parameter "filespec" should be a complete path specification if the specified file does not exist in the current folder. The path of the folderspec can be either a absolute or relative path. Wildcard characters (*, ?, and so on) are not supported

Return Values:

Boolean value

The method returns a Boolean value to indicate whether the specified file exist or not related to the specified FileSystemObject Object.

FileSystemObjectName should always refer to a FileSystemObject Object.

Examples:

  • Example of using the FileExists method to check the existence of the specified file

    ASP VBScript command:

    <script runat="server" language="VBScript">
    Dim fso, fileflag
    Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    fileflag = fso.FileExists("c:\temp\test.txt")
    Response.Write fileflag & "<br>"
    Response.Write fso.FileExists("\test1.txt") & "<br>"
    </script>

    HTML web page ouput:

    True
    False

  • Example of using the FileExists method to check the existence of the specified file

    ASP JScript command:

    <script runat="server" language="JScript">
    var fso, fileflag;
    fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
    fileflag = fso.FileExists("c:\\temp\\test.txt");
    Response.Write(fileflag + "<br>");
    Response.Write(fso.FileExists("\\test1.txt") + "<br>");
    </script>

FileSystemObject.GetFileVersion Method

FileSystemObject.GetFileVersion method is the method to get the version number of the file specified path specification related to the specified FileSystemObject Object

Syntax:

FileSystemObjectName.GetFileVersion(pathspec)

 Or in VBScript. Imply

filever = FileSystemObjectName.GetFileVersion(pathspec)

 Or in JScript. Imply

filever  = FileSystemObjectName.GetFileVersion(pathspec)

Parameters:

filever

The parameter "filever" is the name assigned to the version number of the specified file returned by the method using the FileSystemObjectName.GetFileVersion Method.

FileSystemObjectName

The parameter "FileSystemObjectName" is used to specify the name of the instance of the FileSystemObject Object related to.

Pathspec

The parameter "Pathspec" is used to specify the path specification of the file for the version number  to be returned. The path of the folderspec can be either a absolute or relative path.

Return Values:

version number of the file

The method returns version number of the specified path of the file related to the specified FileSystemObject Object. The GetFileVersion method only returns the version number of the file on the provided path string neither the conflict on the specified path nor the existence of the specified path will be checked.

Remarks:

FileSystemObjectName Method should always refer to a FileSystemObject Object.

The GetFileVersion method returns a zero-length string ("") if pathspec does not end with the named component.

Examples:

  • Example of using the GetFileVersion method to return the version number of the specified file.

    ASP VBScript command: VBScript command:
