A program is a set of instructions or statements to perform some specific tasks. A Python program is usually composed of code blocks that can be executed as a unit. Some typical code blocks are
  • a module
  • a class definition
  • a function body
Besides, code blocks can also also be grouped instructions or statements For example,
  • each command typed interactively; a separate code block
  • a script file
  • a script command
  • the file read by the built-in function execfile()
  • the string argument passed to the built-in function eval()
  • the string argument passed to the exec() statement
  • the expression read and evaluated by the built-in function input()
