Scalar Matrices

If all principal diagonal elements of a diagonal matrix are all of the same scalar, it is called a scalar matrix. And it can be expressed as a scalar times the identity matrix.

Properties of Scalar Matrices

Multiplication of two scalar matrices A and B are commutative

Matrix product of a scalar matrix S with other matrix A of the same order is communtative.

In general, If only B is a diagonal matrix, the matrix products are not commutative, .
